“It is very clear that outpatient, catheter based procedures are the future direction of medicine. There have been countless examples of conditions that used to require major operations, with an extended stay in hospital, which are now are conveniently and safely managed in an outpatient setting. For the past 25 years I have engaged in traditional (open incision) surgery, which still helps many patients. However, it is becoming increasingly apparent that that kind of surgery is being relegated to the past, and it dawned on me that what I was doing was essentially similar to being a horse and buggy salesman just as the Model T was introduced! In other words, classic surgery, performed with a scalpel, gaping incisions , large instruments, and even larger retractors, are rapidly becoming obsolete. Metro Vein Centers is at the forefront of providing effective, safe and cost efficient treatment for many arterial and venous conditions in an outpatient setting, and I thought it would be more rewarding to be part of the future rather than a relic of the past.”
After a career performing more “traditional” surgery (incision with a scalpel), Dr. Delius elected to transition to more modern type catheter-based therapy by joining the staff at Metro Vascular.
Dr. Delius completed his undergraduate degree at California State University Northridge. He obtained his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. He is currently based primarily at Metro Vascular Canton office.
